2012 Spring Tournament Format

Pool Play: 3 Game guarantee 

The tournament consists of 2 pools named: 1 and 2  Each pool contains 4 teams.  Teams in the pool will play two other teams (not all 3), resulting in 2 games per team to complete the pool play. We will than seed teams One thru Eight based on TieBreakers below and play a single elimination tourney.

Than Seed 1 vs Seed 8. Seed 2 vs Seed 7, Seed 3 vs Seed 6, and Seed 4 vs Seed 5.  Semis will be highest seed remaining vs lowest seed, and the other two teams play each other,

Finals are the winners from semi-finals.

TIEBREAKERS:

1.  The team's with 2-0 record in bracket play will be seeded as the top seeds, Then the teams with 1-1 Record followed by the teams 0-2 record in bracket play

2.  The Tie breaker to rank teams will be Run Differential (Runs Scored minus Runs Allowed) in bracket play. If still a tie then Runs Allowed is 2nd tiebreaker then Runs Scored will be 3rd tiebreaker.

Game Format/Rules – Pool Play

Each Pool Play game will be 7 innings long or 75 minutes in length, whichever comes first.   A new inning will not be allowed to start after 70 minutes have passed.  If time is up during the middle of an inning, the teams will be allowed complete the full inning to determine a game winner.  If at the end of regulation time/innings the game is tied, then each team will receive a credit of ½ a win toward their pool play record.

Game Format - Single elimination after bracket play.

The single elimination games will follow the same rules as the Pool Play games with the exception of:

1.   These are single elimination games

2.   Each game will be a regulation 7 inning softball game.

3.   Run rule still in effect: 15 after 3 innings, 12 after 4 innings, 10 after 5.

Game Rules

ASA umpires will umpire our games, thus our games will follow the rules of the Umpire’s association.  The umpire has the final say on all rulings. The rules listed below are in addition to the association’s rules and are either specific to our tournament or meant to be a point of emphasis.  Please read all rules thoroughly.  

1.  This is a modified pitch Tournament. 10 Man Modified as defined by ASA, No Windmill or Slingshot
No crossing feet, Ball must stay within the pitchers wrist, square on release, hand 6" from hip

2.  Each game will begin promptly at the designated time.  Any team not ready to play within 5 minutes of the start time will forfeit that game.  The only exception will be in the case of a previous game running long.\

3.  After the second inning, No infield practice will be allowed, and the pitcher will be given 1 minute for all warm-up pitches.   This is in an effort to speed up play.

4.  A team must have at least 8 players to start a game, and may have up to 10 players in the field. 

5.  A team will be allowed to bat up to 12 players.

6.  There is a re-entry rule; this is to make sure every one gets a chance to play.

7.  Run Rule: 15 after 3 innings, 12 after 4, and 10 after 5. 

8.  No metal cleats may be worn.

9.  On close plays the player MUST slide or avoid.  If the runner does not he will be called out.

10.  3 Legal Bunts are allowed, ( No fake bunts are than hitting away this will result in an out.)

11.  No Stealing

12.  Runners must remain on base until the ball is released form pitchers hand.

13.  Each team is responsible for maintaining the score, and should confirm the score with the Umpire between each inning. Then record on Poster which will be on backstop.

14.  All bats must be ASA legal

15.  One courtesy runner is allowed per inning.  The replacement runner will be the player who recorded the last out.

16.  A player can only play for one team in the tournament.

17.  The Home team for ALL Bracket games are determined by a Coin Flip.

18.  The Home team for single elimination tourney will be higher seed

19.  The umpires will have the balls for the Tournament at each backstop

* If the Tournament is played and your team does not show up or decides to not play or leave early There will be no Refund

* If Tournament is rained out on Tourney date and Rain Date- There is a $35. service fee per team
