#4 - Mike Malfetti
Mike,"Cappy" Malfetti's softball career started in 1983 playing in local leagues and back then was recruited by the legend Franny Wallington. Mike started playing in tournaments soon after honing his skills. He then parlayed these experiences into playing with Powerhouse perennial softball teams with likes of, Union Auto Parts/BASH/Crib Outlet. These were clearly the upper echelon of League and Tournament softball teams in the north jersey area in the late 80's and 90's. This is where Mike claimed that he now learned how to play "TEAM SOFTBALL". Mike won numerous League titles, State titles, NIT's at the D and C level as well as pretty much every cash league around. One season Mike's teams went a perfect 7-7 in championships in one season. As time went by, Mike picked up some nagging injuries and then had shoulder surgery in 1994 which is when Mike became a police officer. After healing up, Mike played on the LEO Circuit with his Hudson Lawman squad of which they won many east coast tournaments. Throughout the early 2000's Mike played with some close friends on the always tough Stingrays D and E teams where they had much success with State titles to back it up. In 2004 Mike was recruited by Hall of Famer, Nicky Torrillo to play for the ATTIC/ Iron Horse Team where they went on to win ASA C States. In 2005 through 2008 he started playing with Lounge 2028/ Corner to Corner team where they went on to win the NSA/Softball Nation in VA. Beach where he earned all worlds selection with fellow Hall of Famer Mike Stevens. In 2008 Mike then started his 40 and over senior softball career with Easton PA's based TY's Boys where they won the SSUSA 40& OVER WORLDS in Scottsdale AZ. Mike's 50 & Over career started in 2013 where he played with several teams... Northeast Storm and Powerhouse Phoenix Tube winning titles in the Major Division and the SPA 50 AAA Worlds Mike played a crucial part of those teams by his all-world selections yet again. All in all, it was 7 titles at this level as well as numerous MVP / All Tournament awards. Mikes biggest achievement on the circuit was 2019 season where he won USA Worlds in NC, came in 2nd in Smokey Mountain Classic and the magical run they had in Vegas in 2019 SSUSA Worlds with Phoenix Tube. Through all of this, Mike was able to play with his closest softball friends in the DoubleAA Sunday morning spring and fall leagues from 2006-2018 on the Powerhouse XO Athletic team, which was the inception of the DoubleAA League. That XO team was almost unbeatable at times throughout the run. Title after title where Mike was a crucial part of that team. Mike was quoted as saying... " I just did what was asked of me". "I think to this day, the XO Team, Ty’s Boys and Phoenix Tube were the most talented teams I've been a part of". Having the privilege of playing with/against and coaching teams that Mike has played on, I would say that Mike, aka "Cappy" Malfetti, is a warrior. His versatility to play multiple positions exceptionally and his hitting ability speak for itself. It was an honor playing with a teammate such as Mike. His gritty mentality and softball IQ towards this great game of softball can only be matched by a handful of other great players.
#3 – Mike Stevens
Mike "Slick" Stevens started his career in 1988 at 18 years old in the Lodi Men’s Softball League. The original right-handed back side hitter. Adopted the stroke before most. Known for his rocket arm. He has played with some of the best North Jersey league teams ever assembled, such as XO, Tommy G’s, Stevens Landscaping, Pip’s Fighting Fit, Paskas Funeral Home, Rusty Kales. Winner of more than 85 league championships over his 30-year career. Mike's Tournament life started in the early 90's playing on various powerhouse teams such as, Morris County Sanitation, Mystery Men, Bash, West End Electric, Risk it All. However, Mike's biggest accomplishments came from playing with legendary Coors Light team at the D level: the famed Coors Light “D” team which is considered the best ever D team from NJ. Mike ranked top 3 all time in Hits, Runs, Doubles, Triples, HRs, RBIs Average, Slugging, he was the ultimate 2 hitter. He was the only Coors Light player to win All American honors at 3 different positions (OF, 1B, C) during their national championship runs. National Tournament Accomplishments

In 2004 Coors Light was invited to play on the ASA Hall of Fame Field in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
Double AA / XO Years Mike was one of the original members of XO who played for them in the Double AA Sports inaugural season in 2006. He was a member of XO from 2006 until his retirement in 2018. Won 10 Double AA league championships while amassing over 200+ wins in his 13 years with XO. He also won an additional Double AA championship in 2014 with Valley Stables over the powerhouse Dirty Money while XO took the summer off.
Mike was the ULTIMATE TEAM GUY. He would hit anywhere in the line-up and never say a word. He was a technician when it came to knowing the strike zone. Mike new that taking a walk or advancing a runner in certain situations was needed. This may have hurt his own personal stats but it was for the betterment of the team. He would always go unnoticed in our powerhouse line-up because he wasn't hitting the ball over 3oo feet consistently. I can tell you that he was an integral part of the XO Dynasty (which still goes on today).
If I could sum up Mike "SLICK" Stevens, I'd say that he was the single most open-minded knowledgeable teammate and scholar of the game of softball.; It was a pleasure playing against, playing with and certainly coaching.
Simply put, he was and still is, a "WINNER"
#20 – Mike Broderick
Mike "SHOOTER" Broderick, started his early softball career in the early 90's after graduating with a baseball scholarship from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Shooter was one of these up-and-coming young players that immediately made a positive impact on every team he played with. He started out playing with the likes of Big Apple, Union Auto Parts, BASH, Rusty Kales and the Juggernaut XO. Shooter was known specifically for his MVP caliber play at SS throughout the years. For the first few years, he was at the bottom of the order on all of his teams, but that didn't last long. Mike's competitiveness to be the best on the field catapulted him into the leadoff hitter on most of his teams. Once he learned how to master the backside of the diamond offensively, he was basically on base every time. If he made more than an out during a single game his teammates looked at him and asked if he was ok. That's how dominant he was at the top of the order. "Shooter" was NOT known as a rah-rah type of player. Just the opposite. He never said a word. He let his play do the talking and his level of play rubbed off on others quickly. He was known not only as the best SS in north jersey but the best in the state. It was basically Mike Broderick, Willie Allen and Anthony Defrancesca as the GOATS in the state at SS. Mike took what he learned in leagues and utilized those skills on the tournament circuit as well. He played for the north jersey Powerhouse BASH Softball Team where he helped them place 3rd in the 1997 Famed COORS LIGHT TOURNAMENT with a prize money purse of 100k in which BASH WON 25K. Shooter went on to play on some great tournament softball teams such as BASH, Union Auto Parts, Risk it All, Corner to Corner Nursery, West End Electric DSM and the great Coors light team in its later years. Mike was now ready to step up and play at the highest of levels and that he did. He played at the "A" and MAJOR levels for Vigianni plumbing and the highly nationally ranked ABS out of Maryland. There, Shooter did not disappoint, He won multiple tournaments at the National level and too many MVP'S and All tournament teams to mention throughout his career. Whether it was ASA, USSSA, SSAA, ISA, NSA, TRIPLE CROWN or just playing conference ball Shooter was the best defender on his team. Nobody had faster hands or turned a double play with the ease and quickness as Mike. He will always be remembered as the best around. for those who did not get the chance to see him at his best certainly did miss greatness at the SS position. Shooter joined the Dynasty of XO in its 4th year in existence. He was the staple at the top of the order with other HOF'S on that great team and he played such a key role as the rock in the infield and on base machine on offense. The bar was set at its highest with Shooter and he has yet to be overshadowed at the position by anyone today. He was that good. It was fun to watch and be a part of I can tell you that. He was better known for giving his trophies and awards to one of the kids from his teammates. That's how good he was as a player.
Lou Morrone #22, Lou( AKA Kabong) Morrone goes in as a player coach as his level of play went unnoticed in Double AA Sports because the majority of his softball playing career happened prior to that in several leagues. He started his softball career on Team Enterprise in the A Flight League along with powerhouse Zoo team in the Ridgefield Park league while also playing modified as Enterprise/Paskas Funeral home where they were state champs for a couple of years. They then migrated over as Enterprise XO in year 1 of Double AA League. In 2006 was the start of the Juggernaut XO softball team of which Lou Mainly coached /dh as he was always a great hitter. Also, he saw the talent on this squad and just watched in awe and was unselfish enough to do so. After 6 straight seasons unfortunately, the team was forced to disband as they were an unbeatable force. They Dropped out of the league for 2 years then came back to Double AA and finally lost first year back. Lou finally retired but the XO Legacy is still going strong today. To coach such a talented team was not easy was it was difficult with line ups EGO's and keeping the peace amongst the squad, but all Knew and RESPECTED Lou's authority and professionalism. He was truly the Phil Jackson /pat Riley all in one of softball coaches. It was an absolute pleasure playing for such a good guy and teammate.
By the way, he was nicknamed Kabong because he mashed the ball......
Nicky Torrillo #22 OF, played for XO FROM 2007-2015. Nicky AKA"NICCO" batted in the sweet spot of the order and was an RBI machine out of the 3 hole of what was the most dominant team of that time frame. Nicky led the team in RBI's throughout the years During Nick's tenure He was part of 5 straight championship seasons amassing a record of 128-7. Nicky was a player that truly gave his all every pitch from beginning to end regardless of the score. He was a vocal leader and mass contributor to the success of many power house teams such as: Crib Outlet, Bash Softball team, Union Auto, Rusty Kales and the most impressive run was part of the Paskas Funeral Home team in the Rutherford weeknight slow pitch league of 9 straight years of championships. He was also played for powerhouse tournament teams like West End Electric Bash Softball Team and the infamous Risk It all Softball team to just name a few. Some of Nick's accomplishments were finishing 3rd place in the well-known Coors light tournament where the team cashed in for $30,000 in 1997. Nicky received multiple MVP awards throughout his softball career, and well deserved they were. Nicky was famous for his energy and never letting the team go silent even in turmoil amongst the group at times. If I could some up Nicky in a phrase it would be: Heartbeat of the team.
Tom Patire #3 3B, played for XO since the inception of the league in 2006 until 2015 Tom batted in the 5 hole of the order, of what was the most dominant team of that time frame. XO won 6 straight titles amassing a record of 139 wins-8 losses. Tom was just as professional a hitter as it comes. Although Tom was one of the veterans on the team, he was able to hold his own in what was a ruthless middle of the order. Tom started his illustrious softball career at the ripe young age of 17 with Edleman's Bakery in the early 80's. Although Tom's accomplishments for many years playing for power house perennials of the likes of (A tournament team Debacco Brothers, League champions, Pips fighting fit, Hot dog house, Tommy G's, Enterprise, just to name a few. .) If I could sum up Tom as a teammate it would be the calm Giant. He never got flustered when the team trailed by double digits as rare as it was. His level of confidence in his team and his own abilities rubbed off on others and it showed in the results .The best thing about Tom was that no matter how mad the other team got at us for our antics or just ruthless onslaught of hitting they would never cross the line because Tom would just quietly walk into the batter's box and say, "cut it out guys" . That's all it took. It was an honor to have played with him.
Craig Paskas #9 OF, played with XO from its inception from 2006-2018. Craig AKA "Dog" batted in the quote un quote clean-up spot on This powerhouse team. Craig started his career playing fast pitch for the then dominant Paskas Funeral Home. Craig was a part of the XO dominance for 6 straight years of championships amassing a record of 139 wins to just 8 losses. Where ever "Dog" played he was a winner it's that simple. He played for dominant teams such as: Enterprise, Pierre Jewelers, Valley Stables, Lounge 2028, The Budmen as well as the 9 straight championships with Paskas Funeral Home in the weeknight Rutherford League. Craig's biggest Accomplishment was winning the ASA C nationals with Perennial Powerhouse Gas House from south Jersey. As far as a teammate, Craig was the ultimate teammate you could have on the team. He was one of the least vocal players on this squad, but he led the team in so many other ways. He is known in all of NJ as the BEST Outfielder to play his position. He has scaled many fences to rob home runs or lay flat out to steel a hit from the other team along with his rocket arm to boot. He was one of the most complete players to have ever played. His biggest quality of all was his humble attitude and his unwillingness to be in the spotlight. he just wanted to win and give his all. His play was infectious and started many rallies for the team’s offense by his stellar defense and was also the number 2 leader in RBI's in XO history. If I could sum up "Dog's" play in the opponents’ terms, it would be " HE'S JUST NASTY GOOD" . I'm proud to have played with him and am so appreciative for his unselfishness as a player. There's only one "Dog" and his name is Craig Paskas...
